ULTIMATELY it was only three points. However, it was also much more than three points as the smiles, the hugs and The Kop’s impromptu rendition of Wonderful Christmastime proved. Manchester United – and Jose Mourinho – had long since cemented a place in the...
SOMETIMES defeats are excusable. An unbeaten run is a wonderful thing. Another three points at the final blast of the ref’s whistle, even if you’ve had to hold on a bit. After a while though, there’s a marked difference between that first unbeaten result and the...
JAMIE Carragher made a point about patience during yesterday’s game. Around the hour mark, when The Reds were taking wild shots from all over the pitch, Carragher rightly pointed out that there was no need to panic and that, if the players kept their heads and stayed...
IT was almost mundane. It was simultaneously magic. Manchester United tragic. The form book didn’t go out of the window. It rarely does. Since Rafa Benitez arrived at Anfield, broadly speaking, Liverpool have got the results they should, given the seasons they...
HAHAHA. They are worse than us under Hodgson. Alisson: 7 Oh for fuck’s sake. Had hard lines for the goal there, catches it and hits his own legs and bobbles out. That said if that was Miggy I’d currently probably still be strangling him. In the changies, as...

NO Ben Johnson this week, so I’ve been given the honour of filling some big shoes. Didn’t expect to do much undies on your head chat, a la Ben, but also I didn’t expect Mohamed Salah to truly take the piss. What a performance from The Reds, and kudos to the manager in...
IT was a routine win for Liverpool on the south coast, but not as you know it. Pundits and “experts” may look back on the game as one where Liverpool cruised to an easy victory, without acknowledging the near perfection this Liverpool team are achieving....
MY first league match missed this season will be Liverpool’s 15th. I’ve set out to do the full 38-game complement on about 10 occasions, but always come up short by a fixture or two. I’m like a metaphor for past Liverpool sides. We’re all nearly people, ultimately....
VITALITY and purpose. Nothing other than the title is our business. Our business is nothing other than the title. There is a purity to that. Tonight told you that story and told you how much it matters to this club, this manager and his players, and what everyone is...
