STREET footballers at an elite level are a joy to behold. Luis Suarez, Wayne Rooney and Steven Gerrard were all phenomenally talented players who held an unnerving amount of raw abandon and instinct, honed into them on the streets of Croxteth, Huyton and Salto,...
PICTURE the scene. It’s early on in the season and Liverpool face an away game they can well do without. There are nervous conversations about the opposition as it’s not the easiest place to go and we’ve been embarrassed there before. Liverpool find themselves two...
I HAVE a theory about football fans. We have all convinced ourselves, no matter who we support, that no-one goes through more stress in games than we do. It doesn’t seem to matter whether a person follows relegation candidates, mid-table mediocrity or runaway league...
THAT became a struggle. Then came excellence. And it was followed by a horrendous time until the relief of the final whistle. Liverpool started well until James Milner went off bleeding. But The Reds were then both poor and under the cosh until the fourth official put...
OH, man – that first half! Jesus Christ. Heavy going, that. We were sound and then Milner cut his head and The Reds started acting the goat. Miles in their legs can’t have helped. Big fan of having a nervous last 10 minutes for nothing. Fucking hell… Adrian: 6 A...
IT’S very early into a league season to be talking about “must-win” league games. Southampton away is a must-win game for Liverpool. And yet… And yet, isn’t this all really the false construct of a man or group of men deemed it must become this way? Sheikh Mansour and...

I’M not sure where Jermaine Jenas has been for the past year. Joe Cole – on the other hand – I can hazard a guess at snazzy tailors which specializes in maroon-tinted suits, or maybe a gastro pub on the West End, telling people how “The Chels” ruled...
MAN alive. It meant nothing, then it meant everything, then it was roaringly special. The game crazy. The competition crazy. The extra time crazy. Quick things… The line. You may not like it but the line is an issue. Sometimes your greatest strength is your...
IT’S the Super Cup. It’s against Chelsea, who are led by the only man in Great Britain going baldy quicker than Joe Hart. I’m a baldy spotter by trade now. Can see them hairs getting finer from a mile away. Lampard will be lashing sun cream on his scalp before you can...
Turning all our attention towards the Reds’ upcoming Premier League encounter with Manchester City at Anfield. Neil Atkinson is joined by Josh Sexton, Abigail Rudkin & John Gibbons.
