by Karl Coppack | Dec 13, 2021 | app, Featured Writing, Footie, Karl Coppack's Column

What Steven Gerrard’s return to Anfield with Aston Villa told us about the past, the present and the future of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool…   I’VE often wondered if there’s a footballing equivalent of synaesthesia — the act of experiencing one...

Liverpool’s Support & The Generational Greatness Of This Side

by Karl Coppack | Nov 29, 2021 | app, Featured Writing, Footie, Karl Coppack's Column

With a big difference in the generations of Liverpool’s support, where would this side rank among the best the older generation had seen?   I HAD plenty of room to celebrate when Diogo Jota knocked in his second-minute goal for Liverpool on Saturday. My...

Analysing Liverpool’s Make-Do-And-Mend Midfield

by Karl Coppack | Nov 22, 2021 | app, Featured Writing, Footie, Karl Coppack's Column

Liverpool’s midfield has seen a serious amount of chopping and changing this season, but will it be able to sustain continued upheaval?   HOW do you control fate? How do you herd cats? On the way to the game on Saturday I heard Radio 5 Live discuss the...

Footballers’ Social Media And The Need For Fan Engagement

by Karl Coppack | Nov 15, 2021 | app, Featured Writing, Footie, Karl Coppack's Column

With Manchester United’s CEO of Media speaking out about footballers’ social media, what do we expect from them in terms of fan engagement?   IN the 1990s, Duncan Ferguson was a guest at a press day for the launch of a new range of Mitre boots. As he...
Why Liverpool’s Defeat At West Ham Was So Hard To Stomach

Why Liverpool’s Defeat At West Ham Was So Hard To Stomach

by Karl Coppack | Nov 8, 2021 | app, Featured Writing, Footie, Karl Coppack's Column

Liverpool’s defeat to West Ham was their first competitive loss in seven months, but despite the bigger picture it was still hard to take…   THERE’S every chance that you’ll read this in a more placid mood than the one in which I write. You may have...
How Liverpool Can Bounce Back With Humility After The Brighton Draw

How Liverpool Can Bounce Back With Humility After The Brighton Draw

by Karl Coppack | Nov 1, 2021 | app, Featured Writing, Footie, Karl Coppack's Column

Despite falling to a disappointing draw against Brighton & Hove Albion, Liverpool can bounce back quick so long as they keep showing humility…   I WAS in Brighton a few weeks ago. My mate Matt lives near there so, as a birthday present, I bought us...
Where The Manchester United Win Ranks In Liverpool’s History

Where The Manchester United Win Ranks In Liverpool’s History

by Karl Coppack | Oct 25, 2021 | app, Featured Writing, Footie, Karl Coppack's Column

It was a historic day at Old Trafford as Liverpool put five past Manchester United, but where does it rank among The Reds all-time wins?   WELL… I mean… Well… What do you say about that? How do you sum that up in a thousand words? How do you channel 30-plus years...
Why Fans Are Happy For Liverpool To Remain Flying Under The Radar

Why Fans Are Happy For Liverpool To Remain Flying Under The Radar

by Karl Coppack | Oct 18, 2021 | app, Featured Writing, Footie, Karl Coppack's Column

Despite another convincing win and display on Saturday, Liverpool remain third favourites for the title. Yet we, the fans, like it this way…   KEEP talking about Manchester City. Keep talking about Chelsea. Make everything about Manchester United, Ronaldo...

How Klopp Achieved What His Predecessors Couldn’t

by Karl Coppack | Oct 11, 2021 | app, Featured Writing, Footie, Karl Coppack's Column

After six years at Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp has managed to achieve what his predecessors couldn’t – in more ways than one…   SIX years is a long time for any manager to be in place. Not many make it that far. In our recent history, only Rafa...

Liverpool’s Manchester City Draw After The Dust Has Settled

by Karl Coppack | Oct 4, 2021 | app, Featured Writing, Footie, Karl Coppack's Column

Assessing Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Manchester City at Anfield – now that the dust has settled are we more prepared to see it as a good point?   LAST week I wrote about how draws are defeats nowadays. It’s never good to take the lead twice and come...

The Pub Crawlers Podcast: Nottingham (S1E3)

The third episode of season one of The Pub Crawlers Podcast was recorded in Nottingham, as Rob Gutmann hosts Steve Graves and Martin Fitzgerald to discuss the local pub scene, Indian restaurants, students, and more…

The Pub Crawlers Podcast represents a quest to find the very best authentic UK pubs, filmed on location inside some of the finest boozers across the UK and Ireland.

Well, sort of. It’s equally about friends having three to four pint-fuelled, quintessential pub conversations, on any subjects that damn well occur to them, in a range of outstanding boozers across the land. So, really, it’s as much about what we get up to in pubs as the pubs themselves.

The shows are presented by self-styled boozer connoisseur and long-time pub designer and owner, Rob Gutmann, who is on a mission to find the very best pubs in the UK and to define the essence of the ‘true’ pub.

Featuring a wide range of guests (mainly Rob’s mates), we’ll be visiting pubs the length and breadth of the country, bedding into the very best of them, and chatting about our lives lived in and around boozers.

The first season of the Pub Crawlers focuses on the North of England, taking in Chester, Sheffield, Manchester, Liverpool, and even a brief foray to the north side of the Midlands in Nottingham.

Plug yourself in to the ongoing conversation as it disappears down all manner of tenuously pub-related worm holes, with your new mates at TPC. And you don’t need a pint to enjoy us, but it might help…
