Addressing the stark contrast between the area of Anfield and the stadium which it houses, on a matchday and a normal day… HOW was your weekend? I spent part of mine hanging off the side of the Liverpool Cathedral – the enormous sandstone one, rather than...
Charting the evolution of football fan culture down the years, and how it has changed interaction between supporters… IN October 2003, I tentatively set up an account on the newly established ‘Through the Wind and Rain’ forum. I was a fan of the fanzine...
It wouldn’t be the first time Liverpool have brought a big player back to Anfield, but would a Gini Wijnaldum return be worthwhile? “WHAT is past is past. Never go back. “Not for excuses. Not for justification, not for happiness. You are what you are, the...
On the day that Sadio Mane leaves Liverpool for Bayern Munich, how should fans feel about the departure of a legend? I DON’T like it when Liverpool players leave. I don’t just mean players like Fernando Torres or Luis Suarez. I mean all of them. They’ve either...
Looking back at Liverpool’s season opener away at Norwich City, and its significance to supporters after so long without live football… ONE thing that has largely been forgotten thanks to the events in Paris is that the 2021-2022 season ended. Over...
French Ministers revealed that they thought Liverpool fans would be a ‘problem’ in Paris, but why do the same stereotypes carry through today? IT’S strange how anger takes over from fear then relief. Following last week’s events, I’ve been through...
As rival fans let Liverpool stereotypes rule their judgement over the trouble in Paris, they must support now or it could happen to them… I WISH we’d won the European Cup. That should have been my waking thought on Sunday but, given what happened...
Reliving the roller coaster of emotions experienced by Liverpool fans inside Anfield on the final day of the Premier League season… I THINK that might be the strangest game I’ve ever seen. At one point we were drawing, but sort of winning as City were...
Steven Gerrard left huge shoes to fill as Liverpool captain, but Jordan Henderson has managed to carve out his own legacy with the armband… LET’S talk about the captain. The success of any career move is usually measured on that of the predecessor. Anyone...

The third episode of season one of The Pub Crawlers Podcast was recorded in Nottingham, as Rob Gutmann hosts Steve Graves and Martin Fitzgerald to discuss the local pub scene, Indian restaurants, students, and more…
The Pub Crawlers Podcast represents a quest to find the very best authentic UK pubs, filmed on location inside some of the finest boozers across the UK and Ireland.
Well, sort of. It’s equally about friends having three to four pint-fuelled, quintessential pub conversations, on any subjects that damn well occur to them, in a range of outstanding boozers across the land. So, really, it’s as much about what we get up to in pubs as the pubs themselves.
The shows are presented by self-styled boozer connoisseur and long-time pub designer and owner, Rob Gutmann, who is on a mission to find the very best pubs in the UK and to define the essence of the ‘true’ pub.
Featuring a wide range of guests (mainly Rob’s mates), we’ll be visiting pubs the length and breadth of the country, bedding into the very best of them, and chatting about our lives lived in and around boozers.
The first season of the Pub Crawlers focuses on the North of England, taking in Chester, Sheffield, Manchester, Liverpool, and even a brief foray to the north side of the Midlands in Nottingham.
Plug yourself in to the ongoing conversation as it disappears down all manner of tenuously pub-related worm holes, with your new mates at TPC. And you don’t need a pint to enjoy us, but it might help…
