JÜRGEN Klopp is Liverpool manager then. He can’t buy any players for the best part of three months so, as a consequence, he’s going to have to make do with what he’s got. And I think he should be encouraged by what he’s got. He’s got a pool of strikers that any...
EVER since April 30, 2011, I’ve wanted Jürgen Klopp to be manager of Liverpool Football Club. That was the day that his Borussia Dortmund side won their first Bundesliga title since the charismatic German had taken charge. He had won the fans over with his attitude,...
It almost doesn’t matter who he really is. It’s what he represents that counts most. All the cliches. We don’t like losing. We don’t like being looked down upon. Forever being re-classified. We’ve been getting told for 25 years now that...
AUF GEHTS! Can you feel that? The crease below the eyes, the widening of your cheeks? Perhaps your teeth have joined the party, and your dimples are dancing. Smile away, smile away, smile away. Jurgen Klopp arrives in Liverpool today. Jurgen Klopp finalises his deal...
NEIL ATKINSON and John Gibbons are delighted to be joined by Hoffenheim scout Lutz Pfannenstiel to chat about his impression of Jürgen Klopp. Lutz has a couple of personal stories to share about the enigmatic former Dortmund Coach and shares his views on how he will...
BRENDAN Rodgers was blamed for a lot last season. However, a new season is here with new hope, new players, new kit, new grass, new truss, new criticisms and…. the same old blame game. We’ve played two, won two, scored two, conceded not a sausage, but...
ROB GUTMANN shares the gutter platform with Gareth Roberts, Neil Atkinson and Craig Rimmer to discuss the radio silence from the club, the speculation from the press as well as right backs, sub goalies and Jurgen Klopp. Gareth on his lap top. The rest on a mic. You...
NEGATIVITY — like love in the Wet Wet Wet song, is all around me, writes BEN McCAUSLAND. I feel it in my fingers, I feel it in my toes. It’s washing around the city, rampaging through the streets like a CGI tidal wave in an action movie. Every time you pick up a...
THE bickering is back. The Liverpool fanbase truly divided once again. Bizarre accusations of ‘agendas’ have remerged and everyone is wondering what happens next at Anfield. Questions, questions, questions. Emergency meetings are said to have taken place behind...
YOU have to be sure. It’s no small thing taking away the Liverpool job, so you have to be sure. I feel like Henry Fonda in Twelve Angry Men, writes PAUL LITTLE. It has to be beyond reasonable doubt for me – or at least that’s how I always feel when it comes to...
The fourth episode of season one of The Pub Crawlers Podcast was recorded at The Grapes in Sheffield, as Rob Gutmann hosts Steve Graves and Martin Fitzgerald to discuss snooker, Sheffield bands, the annoyance of kids in pubs, and more…
The Pub Crawlers Podcast represents a quest to find the very best authentic UK pubs, filmed on location inside some of the finest boozers across the UK and Ireland.
Well, sort of. It’s equally about friends having three to four pint-fuelled, quintessential pub conversations, on any subjects that damn well occur to them, in a range of outstanding boozers across the land. So, really, it’s as much about what we get up to in pubs as the pubs themselves.
The shows are presented by self-styled boozer connoisseur and long-time pub designer and owner, Rob Gutmann, who is on a mission to find the very best pubs in the UK and to define the essence of the ‘true’ pub.
Featuring a wide range of guests (mainly Rob’s mates), we’ll be visiting pubs the length and breadth of the country, bedding into the very best of them, and chatting about our lives lived in and around boozers.
The first season of the Pub Crawlers focuses on the North of England, taking in Chester, Sheffield, Manchester, Liverpool, and even a brief foray to the north side of the Midlands in Nottingham.
Plug yourself in to the ongoing conversation as it disappears down all manner of tenuously pub-related worm holes, with your new mates at TPC. And you don’t need a pint to enjoy us, but it might help…
