Why The Club Can’t Let James Milner’s Liverpool Career Come Full Circle

Why The Club Can’t Let James Milner’s Liverpool Career Come Full Circle

by Josh Sexton | Oct 7, 2019 | app, Featured Writing, Footie, Karl Coppack's Column

IN December 1995, football’s transfer market was changed forever. After five years of battling against his club, the country’s football association and UEFA, Jean Marc-Bosman won his case which would allow football players to move to another club for free upon the...
‘Lucky’ Liverpool’s Recipe For Success This Season

‘Lucky’ Liverpool’s Recipe For Success This Season

by Josh Sexton | Sep 30, 2019 | app, Featured Writing, Footie, Karl Coppack's Column

“SOMETIMES you need luck. “I was lucky today and the goalkeeper was unlucky. Sometimes you need those kind of moments.” You’d do well to find a single football supporter who didn’t believe that the circumstances leading to Liverpool’s winning goal...

How Jordan Henderson Has Made The Liverpool Captaincy His Own

by Josh Sexton | Sep 23, 2019 | app, Featured Writing, Footie, Karl Coppack's Column

SOME things can’t be quantified in football. Stats certainly have their place in football, but there are some things that stats can’t prove. VAR probably has its place in football – despite weekly evidence that can be used to the contrary – but there are...

Firmino, Wijnaldum, Matip And The Problem With Being Called Underrated

by Josh Sexton | Sep 16, 2019 | app, Featured Writing, Footie, Karl Coppack's Column

THE grass isn’t always greener on the other side. A phrase I used in this column last Monday in reference to some former Liverpool players who weren’t having the same nice time that the current crop of Reds are, which it could be argued was down to the way they left...
The Plight Of Former Liverpool Players – A Cautionary Tale

The Plight Of Former Liverpool Players – A Cautionary Tale

by Josh Sexton | Sep 9, 2019 | app, Featured Writing, Footie, Karl Coppack's Column

IT’S been an interesting few weeks for some of Anfield’s former flings. From surprisingly under-the-radar loan moves, to inflammatory agent statements, being left out of Champions League squads and even bad publicity surrounding book releases. Say what you want about...

Bobby Duncan, Trent Alexander-Arnold & The Fine Margins At Academies

by Josh Sexton | Sep 2, 2019 | app, Featured Writing, Footie, Karl Coppack's Column

LIVERPOOL beat Manchester United 4-3 with a last-minute own goal at the weekend. That sentence would usually be common knowledge by this point on a Monday, but this was a game between the rivals’ under-18s sides that took place at The Academy in Kirkby on Saturday...
Are We Seeing Signs That Liverpool Have Learnt From Manchester City?

Are We Seeing Signs That Liverpool Have Learnt From Manchester City?

by Josh Sexton | Aug 12, 2019 | app, Featured Writing, Footie, Karl Coppack's Column

IT’S hard to know what to take from Friday night. While it felt as though Liverpool could have been 6-0 up at half time, it also felt like Norwich were able to get in behind more times than anybody in the home end would have liked – and of course they eventually...
Liverpool Well Endowed In Defence? Assessing The Reds’ Options

Liverpool Well Endowed In Defence? Assessing The Reds’ Options

by Josh Sexton | Aug 5, 2019 | app, Featured Writing, Footie, Karl Coppack's Column

IT’S mad how even a game of football you convince yourself you aren’t arsed about can draw you in like that. Make no mistake, winning that game meant everything until the final whistle blew. You wouldn’t catch many Liverpool supporters moping around after the fact,...

The Pub Crawlers Podcast: Nottingham (S1E3)

The third episode of season one of The Pub Crawlers Podcast was recorded in Nottingham, as Rob Gutmann hosts Steve Graves and Martin Fitzgerald to discuss the local pub scene, Indian restaurants, students, and more…

The Pub Crawlers Podcast represents a quest to find the very best authentic UK pubs, filmed on location inside some of the finest boozers across the UK and Ireland.

Well, sort of. It’s equally about friends having three to four pint-fuelled, quintessential pub conversations, on any subjects that damn well occur to them, in a range of outstanding boozers across the land. So, really, it’s as much about what we get up to in pubs as the pubs themselves.

The shows are presented by self-styled boozer connoisseur and long-time pub designer and owner, Rob Gutmann, who is on a mission to find the very best pubs in the UK and to define the essence of the ‘true’ pub.

Featuring a wide range of guests (mainly Rob’s mates), we’ll be visiting pubs the length and breadth of the country, bedding into the very best of them, and chatting about our lives lived in and around boozers.

The first season of the Pub Crawlers focuses on the North of England, taking in Chester, Sheffield, Manchester, Liverpool, and even a brief foray to the north side of the Midlands in Nottingham.

Plug yourself in to the ongoing conversation as it disappears down all manner of tenuously pub-related worm holes, with your new mates at TPC. And you don’t need a pint to enjoy us, but it might help…
