Liverpool have had their fair share of roller coaster centre halves on the books, but it was Ibrahima Konate’s composure that they craved… IMAGINE this… You’re a central defender and your new club only plays two of those. Actually, make that one as...
Even after winning every possible trophy at Anfield, Jürgen Klopp has earned an even bigger accolade in the eyes of Liverpool supporters… I’M a bit old for heroes. I’ve always felt adulation should be kept for your first three decades. Maybe that’s the...
With the World Cup making headlines for all the wrong reasons, what has happened to the spirit that was behind the tournament’s origin? WHEN the historians of the future come to look upon where the game went mad, they’d do well to look at November and...
In a relatively routine win for Liverpool over Southampton, Alisson Becker and James Milner both managed to make a lasting impact at Anfield… I WENT to see Half Man Half Biscuit on Friday. For the uninitiated, the band put an album out every three to four...
Mo Salah is on the cusp of Kenny Dalglish’s all-time Liverpool goalscoring record, and he can be as important to this generation of Reds… I WAS eight years old when Liverpool signed Kenny Dalglish in the summer of 1977. It was a fraught time for me....
With progression to the Champions League knockout stage secure, Liverpool should have been celebrating – instead they’re commiserating again… THEY said I don’t have to bother with the footy this week and instead I can talk about the release of...
Liverpool fans were reminded of the damage done by Hillsborough all too recently, the chants that form further reminders need to be punished… “If it’s happened, I’m so sorry – it doesn’t represent what we are as a team and a club. But don’t worry, we can...
Despite being written off for all kinds of reasons before the game, Liverpool laid down a marker against Manchester City… SUCCOUR can come from the strangest of sources. This was the fixture no one wanted. Atrocious at Arsenal, moribund in Manchester and...

The third episode of season one of The Pub Crawlers Podcast was recorded in Nottingham, as Rob Gutmann hosts Steve Graves and Martin Fitzgerald to discuss the local pub scene, Indian restaurants, students, and more…
The Pub Crawlers Podcast represents a quest to find the very best authentic UK pubs, filmed on location inside some of the finest boozers across the UK and Ireland.
Well, sort of. It’s equally about friends having three to four pint-fuelled, quintessential pub conversations, on any subjects that damn well occur to them, in a range of outstanding boozers across the land. So, really, it’s as much about what we get up to in pubs as the pubs themselves.
The shows are presented by self-styled boozer connoisseur and long-time pub designer and owner, Rob Gutmann, who is on a mission to find the very best pubs in the UK and to define the essence of the ‘true’ pub.
Featuring a wide range of guests (mainly Rob’s mates), we’ll be visiting pubs the length and breadth of the country, bedding into the very best of them, and chatting about our lives lived in and around boozers.
The first season of the Pub Crawlers focuses on the North of England, taking in Chester, Sheffield, Manchester, Liverpool, and even a brief foray to the north side of the Midlands in Nottingham.
Plug yourself in to the ongoing conversation as it disappears down all manner of tenuously pub-related worm holes, with your new mates at TPC. And you don’t need a pint to enjoy us, but it might help…
