Gary Lineker’s original tweet wasn’t even a political statement, but the BBC made it so and showed we shouldn’t separate that and football… I WISH Jermaine Jenas had shown a bit of solidarity and taken the weekend off too. If Liverpool...
The feelings of Liverpool fans in the aftermath of The Reds putting seven goals past Manchester United in the Premier League at Anfield… SEVEN though. I thought I’d seen it all. I’ve been attending Liverpool-Manchester United games since the 1980s and...
With the passing of John Motson, football loses a commentator who loved the game and whose passion made him relatable to fans… YOU’LL have to excuse me this week. I could lower my hand into the torpor that was Selhurst Park, but I just can’t...
Morale was low at Liverpool after their worst period of the season, but two wins in a week have flipped the mood before a crucial game… AND then everything changes. Only a few short weeks ago I used this column to excoriate a Liverpool team devoid of...
Jürgen Klopp is the man who has to front up to all of Liverpool’s problems at the moment, but he can’t be left to walk alone by the club… I DON’T know. Where are you with all this? Usually, my default position on Liverpool being dreadful is...
After Liverpool’s second loss to Brighton in as many weeks, even with a new-look team, how much has this squad fallen between two stools? WELL, there it is. God knows, frankly. There’s good Liverpool and there’s bad Liverpool, but...
After ‘FSG Out’ protests that were organised ahead of the Chelsea game never took place, just how big is the disconnect between Liverpool fans? THERE was once a time when Liverpool versus Chelsea was the talking point of the week. It seemed like we...
Liverpool were there for the taking against Brighton and it’s clear they’re no longer feared, so what can they take away from the loss? ONE of my favourite episodes of The Simpsons is the one where the new Radioactive Man movie is to be filmed in...
Liverpool have been overtaken by their rivals in the not-too-distant past, and they’re in danger of losing the race against time again… AH, we’re back here again. Grim, isn’t it? I feel sorry for the kids or newer fans who have never seen Liverpool...
Though the ‘expensive flop’ narrative continues to follow Darwin Nunez at Liverpool, Reds won’t worry about the Uruguayan just yet… THINGS didn’t start well for Ian Rush. When the Welsh legend was initially approached by Liverpool in...
The third episode of season one of The Pub Crawlers Podcast was recorded in Nottingham, as Rob Gutmann hosts Steve Graves and Martin Fitzgerald to discuss the local pub scene, Indian restaurants, students, and more…
The Pub Crawlers Podcast represents a quest to find the very best authentic UK pubs, filmed on location inside some of the finest boozers across the UK and Ireland.
Well, sort of. It’s equally about friends having three to four pint-fuelled, quintessential pub conversations, on any subjects that damn well occur to them, in a range of outstanding boozers across the land. So, really, it’s as much about what we get up to in pubs as the pubs themselves.
The shows are presented by self-styled boozer connoisseur and long-time pub designer and owner, Rob Gutmann, who is on a mission to find the very best pubs in the UK and to define the essence of the ‘true’ pub.
Featuring a wide range of guests (mainly Rob’s mates), we’ll be visiting pubs the length and breadth of the country, bedding into the very best of them, and chatting about our lives lived in and around boozers.
The first season of the Pub Crawlers focuses on the North of England, taking in Chester, Sheffield, Manchester, Liverpool, and even a brief foray to the north side of the Midlands in Nottingham.
Plug yourself in to the ongoing conversation as it disappears down all manner of tenuously pub-related worm holes, with your new mates at TPC. And you don’t need a pint to enjoy us, but it might help…
