The return of fans to Anfield was a sign of normality resuming, and Josh Sexton writes that Joel Matip has come to embody Liverpool’s ‘new normal’… I MOVED back to Liverpool recently. I’ve lived in the city for the last three years, but...
Josh Sexton’s match preview ahead of Brighton vs Liverpool in the early kick off, as Jürgen Klopp’s pleas to the broadcasters continue to fall on deaf ears… OF course, a Saturday 12.30pm kick off – and not the first of the winter season...
Diogo Jota’s arrival caused us to ask questions of Roberto Firmino, but Josh Sexton writes that ideas of a head to head between the two are complete nonsense… A PROPER football chant is a real artform. Of course music is pretty much the purest form...
It’s a season like no other, but Josh Sexton asks if football’s decision makers have done enough to consider that or if players are being looked after enough? “A 45-MINUTE heart attack.” That was how one critic (gestures towards self) described the...
“This pandemic has taken so much of what we love about football away. But we still have the stories,” writes Josh Sexton… “IN a lockdown, it’s really important for the people that they can do things they like to do. “Watching football is...
VAR has become football’s main talking point with some bizarre decisions this season especially – but is the biggest issue the rules or the referees using it? IT’S funny how quickly something can become a cliche. The cliche that has been most used...
AT 2.25pm on Saturday, a wave of nausea hit me. At first it was a matter of personal pride. Since the introduction of VAR, I’ve subconsciously altered the way I celebrate goals. Anybody who sits near me in the ground would probably be able to tell you the same, so...
ANYTHING good on telly last night? I’ve been watching a show about competitive BBQing in America on Netflix recently. It’s aptly named The American BBQ Showdown, and to be honest I wasn’t expecting there to be as much drama as there has been on it. Twists coming out...
I WANT Liverpool Football Club to win every trophy possible. That doesn’t seem like a particularly controversial statement, as I’m sure most Liverpool supporters would also happily watch the club lift every bit of silverware in sight, while our rivals look on in envy....
WHERE were you? Where were you when Liverpool’s title win was confirmed as Manchester City were beaten by Chelsea last season? At what point did you first start to believe, truly believe, the title was ours? For me it was when City lost to Wolves on December 27, 2019....
The third episode of season one of The Pub Crawlers Podcast was recorded in Nottingham, as Rob Gutmann hosts Steve Graves and Martin Fitzgerald to discuss the local pub scene, Indian restaurants, students, and more…
The Pub Crawlers Podcast represents a quest to find the very best authentic UK pubs, filmed on location inside some of the finest boozers across the UK and Ireland.
Well, sort of. It’s equally about friends having three to four pint-fuelled, quintessential pub conversations, on any subjects that damn well occur to them, in a range of outstanding boozers across the land. So, really, it’s as much about what we get up to in pubs as the pubs themselves.
The shows are presented by self-styled boozer connoisseur and long-time pub designer and owner, Rob Gutmann, who is on a mission to find the very best pubs in the UK and to define the essence of the ‘true’ pub.
Featuring a wide range of guests (mainly Rob’s mates), we’ll be visiting pubs the length and breadth of the country, bedding into the very best of them, and chatting about our lives lived in and around boozers.
The first season of the Pub Crawlers focuses on the North of England, taking in Chester, Sheffield, Manchester, Liverpool, and even a brief foray to the north side of the Midlands in Nottingham.
Plug yourself in to the ongoing conversation as it disappears down all manner of tenuously pub-related worm holes, with your new mates at TPC. And you don’t need a pint to enjoy us, but it might help…
