IT’S time. When football is handed back to us. When it becomes ours once more. When what happens in the ground tops anything else. How it should be. The close season has always been barren by definition; a period pre-internet (stick with it, kids) that once featured...
WE’VE all got our own tale to tell about life – and every moment means something different to each of us. Our own story is continually being written, and written in only a way that we really know about. We have our own context behind our eyes. As much as life offers...
THERE’S every chance that in writing this I’ll sound like exactly what I am: a 42 year old man not averse to comparing past with present. But it is what it is, so here goes… On Saturday, Tranmere Rovers – for the second consecutive season – gained promotion via a...
BY now we know what makes this Liverpool side special. It’s the spirit; the ability to bounce back, to dig deep – to find a way when all looks lost. It’s got all that by the bucketload. It’s a trait that goes against the natural instinct to think the worst; to accept...
“SEE you in Madrid.” That was the parting shot for so many as the traditional farewell to friends at the match took place as fans filtered away from an emotional afternoon at Anfield. There was no final twist, no fairytale ending, but there was a swell of pride in the...
NO. Just no. I’m not letting these dickheads in. Not this time. You knew it was coming and it’s started already. Even when it’s not over yet. Videos of Jürgen Klopp in a car swerving away from the winning route, tweets about records in finals. Etcetera and so on....
GOING away to follow your football club is always different and always special. However, some trips are more special than others. As Liverpool fans, we’ve been spoiled down the years, even during what we would regard as barren times. So many supporters of other teams...
ONE of the best teams Pep Guardiola has seen in his life. A team that has bettered the Rafa Benítez side that clocked up 86 points and featured 24-goal Steven Gerrard, one of the best of our own. A group that has won more points than the Brendan Rodgers team that...
THE gleeful face of Kenny Dalglish in the Anfield stands at the weekend was a reminder of a time so long ago now, it seems like another place – a different world. In so many ways it was. When that same face beamed with joy 29 years ago, there was no stand at Anfield...
A QUARTER-FINAL tie at Anfield looms large. A breather from the breathless chase for the title. The last eight and, by common consensus, the best draw Liverpool could have hoped for. And yet, the story around The Reds’ European Cup foray of 2018-19 feels like a...
The Pub Crawlers Podcast: Down The Local with Mo Stewart (S1E5)
The fifth episode of season one of The Pub Crawlers Podcast was recorded ‘Down The Local’ in Liverpool, as Rob Gutmann hosts Steve Graves and Mo Stewart to discuss worst pub toilet experiences, music in pubs, Glastonbury, and more…
The Pub Crawlers Podcast represents a quest to find the very best authentic UK pubs, filmed on location inside some of the finest boozers across the UK and Ireland.
Well, sort of. It’s equally about friends having three to four pint-fuelled, quintessential pub conversations, on any subjects that damn well occur to them, in a range of outstanding boozers across the land. So, really, it’s as much about what we get up to in pubs as the pubs themselves.
The shows are presented by self-styled boozer connoisseur and long-time pub designer and owner, Rob Gutmann, who is on a mission to find the very best pubs in the UK and to define the essence of the ‘true’ pub.
Featuring a wide range of guests (mainly Rob’s mates), we’ll be visiting pubs the length and breadth of the country, bedding into the very best of them, and chatting about our lives lived in and around boozers.
The first season of the Pub Crawlers focuses on the North of England, taking in Chester, Sheffield, Manchester, Liverpool, and even a brief foray to the north side of the Midlands in Nottingham.
Plug yourself in to the ongoing conversation as it disappears down all manner of tenuously pub-related worm holes, with your new mates at TPC. And you don’t need a pint to enjoy us, but it might help…
