IT’S been an age since Liverpool played some football, in what was a taut match against Manchester City that seemed to last forever. Time is passing and we have the third waypoint of the league season already in site. By the time we pause again for the next...
I DON’T take defeat well. I don’t take not winning well. Three games of only this makes me blue. Like a Blue. They’re calling Liverpool v Manchester City a “title decider in October”. Actually, I might be the first to have dubbed it this, but what the heck. The...
THE celebrations in those closing minutes at Stamford Bridge on Saturday tea time, were full blooded, defiant and maybe will come to be seen as disproportionate. We are apt to do this. I was part of an away end at Villa Park in Brendan Rogers last season that properly...
IT’S something of a shame that we had to dilute the anticipation of this titanic contest by prefacing it with that midweek rumble in the League Cup. Wednesday night’s was a decent game, even if we were ultimately left utterly frustrated by it. It would have been nice...
LIVERPOOL v Chelsea in the third round of the League Cup. An unwanted and destined to be unloved child of a game. We all want to win a trophy, this one even, but we don’t want to have to win it now. Neither ourselves or Chelsea are in the frame of mind to be viewing...
THIS is the type of game I look forward to most. Following a team involves so much tense anticipation and trepidation. Who really relishes the prospect of a derby or watching us go to Old Trafford? Yes, there’s excitement at just how important a result could be...
IT’S all getting a bit too much. I feel like Bobby Firmino. It would almost be relief to sit this one out. Happy to be half blind. Liverpool’s intensity in these early league games has been something to behold. Sure, they haven’t yet been truly electric, but...
THERE are no cup finals in September. No title was ever decided on game five. So why does this feel like a game of monumental importance? History may well cast this encounter into the ether, but in the here and now it’s hard to fathom a more pivotal moment. Of course,...
UPON reflection, I think we can treat Brighton as a bit of a wake up call. The best kind. The kind where you are reminded that there’s work still to be done, but learn the harsh lesson while still winning. Hopefully that, in itself, is a mark of progress. Time may...
IF you’re not beside yourself with excitement at the prospect of watching The Reds at home to Brighton and Hove Albion then you’re in the wrong business. This Liverpool side are building dreams and momentum. All that stands in our way is the bearing of the...
The Pub Crawlers Podcast: Down The Local with Mo Stewart (S1E5)
The fifth episode of season one of The Pub Crawlers Podcast was recorded ‘Down The Local’ in Liverpool, as Rob Gutmann hosts Steve Graves and Mo Stewart to discuss worst pub toilet experiences, music in pubs, Glastonbury, and more…
The Pub Crawlers Podcast represents a quest to find the very best authentic UK pubs, filmed on location inside some of the finest boozers across the UK and Ireland.
Well, sort of. It’s equally about friends having three to four pint-fuelled, quintessential pub conversations, on any subjects that damn well occur to them, in a range of outstanding boozers across the land. So, really, it’s as much about what we get up to in pubs as the pubs themselves.
The shows are presented by self-styled boozer connoisseur and long-time pub designer and owner, Rob Gutmann, who is on a mission to find the very best pubs in the UK and to define the essence of the ‘true’ pub.
Featuring a wide range of guests (mainly Rob’s mates), we’ll be visiting pubs the length and breadth of the country, bedding into the very best of them, and chatting about our lives lived in and around boozers.
The first season of the Pub Crawlers focuses on the North of England, taking in Chester, Sheffield, Manchester, Liverpool, and even a brief foray to the north side of the Midlands in Nottingham.
Plug yourself in to the ongoing conversation as it disappears down all manner of tenuously pub-related worm holes, with your new mates at TPC. And you don’t need a pint to enjoy us, but it might help…
