TERRY’S header hits the net and Steve Graves turns to me and says: “What next?” What next indeed. What the hell next? What could be next? A wrecking ball sweeping through the boozer. A personalised rainstorm like in The Truman Show following you...
I GEGGED in to a conversation on the train on Saturday. Heading to Anfield for the QPR game, three lads were discussing the Mayweather v Pacquiao fight — or more specifically the estimated $300million (£198m) purse and Mayweather’s 60 per cent share of it win,...
NEIL ATKINSON, Melissa Reddy and Jim Boardman go through the game against QPR with obvious focus on Gerrard and the importance of being bold. It’s The Anfield Wrap on your Bank Holiday Monday. Direct Link – PODCAST:ONE FINAL PUSH?/a> Podcast RSS...
COUTINHO swings it in and he rises resplendent, red resplendent, and he nods it across goal and it is there, it is there, and we are there and I surge forward and fall backwards and I am seven and I am just in awe of this hero; of this man who has gone and done the...
EIGHTEEN months ago, I wrote a piece titled the The Elephant in Midfield, focussing on Steven Gerrard’s lack of suitability to play a defensive midfield role, writes HAL COHEN. His performances in a deep role, defensively at least, were largely covered up by...
WELL, it’s rather nice to be writing the first of my Friday columns on the eve of Liverpool’s Wembley weekend. I wrote earlier this week about attending my first FA Cup semi-final in 1980 and I’ve done the sums to calculate this is my tenth. Despite my advancing...
WITH Steven Gerrard in the final months of his final Anfield contract and an American adventure ahead of him, we asked Liverpool fans who follow his club-to-be to tell us what the skipper can expect when he crosses the pond in July. First up, MIKE COPE. STEVEN GERRARD...
NEIL ATKINSON was joined by Adam Smith, Gareth Roberts and Ben Johnson for Monday’s regular Anfield Wrap podcast. The lads talk about Steven Gerrard’s LFC Foundation match on Sunday and the return to Anfield of some past heroes, including the crowd’s...
I’M not sure why I’m here today. What exactly is this game? I’m broadly aware there’s a charity involved. Hasn’t Gerrard already had a testimonial? I’ve heard some people refer to it as “the Gerrard memorial game”, but...
THERE has been a lot of conjecture over what went wrong. I think it was more a question of what didn’t go right. Similar, but a subtle difference. Liverpool’s first league defeat in over four months does not mean the wheels automatically come off. But no-one does...
The Pub Crawlers Podcast: Down The Local with Mo Stewart (S1E5)
The fifth episode of season one of The Pub Crawlers Podcast was recorded ‘Down The Local’ in Liverpool, as Rob Gutmann hosts Steve Graves and Mo Stewart to discuss worst pub toilet experiences, music in pubs, Glastonbury, and more…
The Pub Crawlers Podcast represents a quest to find the very best authentic UK pubs, filmed on location inside some of the finest boozers across the UK and Ireland.
Well, sort of. It’s equally about friends having three to four pint-fuelled, quintessential pub conversations, on any subjects that damn well occur to them, in a range of outstanding boozers across the land. So, really, it’s as much about what we get up to in pubs as the pubs themselves.
The shows are presented by self-styled boozer connoisseur and long-time pub designer and owner, Rob Gutmann, who is on a mission to find the very best pubs in the UK and to define the essence of the ‘true’ pub.
Featuring a wide range of guests (mainly Rob’s mates), we’ll be visiting pubs the length and breadth of the country, bedding into the very best of them, and chatting about our lives lived in and around boozers.
The first season of the Pub Crawlers focuses on the North of England, taking in Chester, Sheffield, Manchester, Liverpool, and even a brief foray to the north side of the Midlands in Nottingham.
Plug yourself in to the ongoing conversation as it disappears down all manner of tenuously pub-related worm holes, with your new mates at TPC. And you don’t need a pint to enjoy us, but it might help…
