I LIKE the summer. And I love a pre pre-season when there’s no football on. Non-tournament summers are like paradise for me. Why? Because I can put Liverpool away for a bit. I don’t have to worry about them. At this moment I’ve no idea who Liverpool’s next opponents...
AS the dust settles on a dismal campaign, fans are left wondering what’s next, writes PAUL McCABE. The wounds of a terrible conclusion to the season remain raw but, instead of finger-pointing, name-calling and blame-shifting, it might be the ideal time to rationally...
AFTER a game like that, you want to see a reaction. A change. Something. It’s not acceptable for Liverpool to lose 6-1 at Stoke. But before Liverpool do anything it is vital the people running the club have a conversation with Brendan Rodgers and ask him two...
“RAHEEM Sterling, your agent’s a knob.” It was a chant lost in the Anfield farewells to Steven Gerrard, but as Liverpool’s number 31 toiled his way through one of his worst performances of the season in the match against Crystal Palace, it tumbled down The Kop from...
A LOT of Liverpool fans seem to think things are pretty bleak at the moment, but I’m an optimist so here’s why I think the outlook might be sunnier than it first appears. THE FOOTBALL Liverpool have had a poor, poor season. Yet we’ve reached two semi...
IT’S going to be a long summer. Hell hath no fury like a Liverpool fan scorned. Hell hath no fury like a Liverpool fan yet to be scorned, but expecting to be scorned. At times hell even hath no fury like a Liverpool fan faced with the rumoured arrival of a James...
TWO games left then: 2014-15, pick the bones out of that, writes CRAIG RIMMER. Liverpool have fallen short of achieving any of their realistic pre-season targets — a resounding failure by most standards — but there must be *some* positives to take from the...
STEVE Hothersall recently interviewed Damien Comolli about his time at Liverpool for City Talk 105.9 and it got me thinking about Anfield’s former director of football strategy and later director of football. I thought about him while watching Luis Suarez for...
WELL there you go. We’ve done it again. We talked about this on The Anfield Wrap Unwrapped (TAW player, fiver a month, it’s quality, give it a go if you haven’t already); Tony Barrett had said that the negotiations with Memphis Depay had stalled a week ago. No...
ALBERT Stubbins, Jackie Balmer, Roger Hunt, Kevin Keegan, Kenny Dalglish, Ian Rush, Robbie Fowler, Michael Owen, Fernando Torres, Luis Suarez, Daniel Sturridge. Goals, Goals, Goals. Red nets bulging. Rickie Lambert, Fabio Borini, Mario flaming Balotelli. Well, these...
The third episode of season one of The Pub Crawlers Podcast was recorded in Nottingham, as Rob Gutmann hosts Steve Graves and Martin Fitzgerald to discuss the local pub scene, Indian restaurants, students, and more…
The Pub Crawlers Podcast represents a quest to find the very best authentic UK pubs, filmed on location inside some of the finest boozers across the UK and Ireland.
Well, sort of. It’s equally about friends having three to four pint-fuelled, quintessential pub conversations, on any subjects that damn well occur to them, in a range of outstanding boozers across the land. So, really, it’s as much about what we get up to in pubs as the pubs themselves.
The shows are presented by self-styled boozer connoisseur and long-time pub designer and owner, Rob Gutmann, who is on a mission to find the very best pubs in the UK and to define the essence of the ‘true’ pub.
Featuring a wide range of guests (mainly Rob’s mates), we’ll be visiting pubs the length and breadth of the country, bedding into the very best of them, and chatting about our lives lived in and around boozers.
The first season of the Pub Crawlers focuses on the North of England, taking in Chester, Sheffield, Manchester, Liverpool, and even a brief foray to the north side of the Midlands in Nottingham.
Plug yourself in to the ongoing conversation as it disappears down all manner of tenuously pub-related worm holes, with your new mates at TPC. And you don’t need a pint to enjoy us, but it might help…
