Neil Atkinson joined by Rob Gutmann, Ian Salmon, Dan Austin and John Gibbons for the week’s big show.
On today’s show, the panel discuss what Liverpool’s options are should they not sign another goalkeeper over the course of the summer and whether any potential deal for Nabil Fekir can be reignited in light of comments from the players camp before having a discussion about Liverpool’s wider recruitment strategy.
The show is ended with a discussion about the sensitive subject of Liverpool’s auto-cup scheme and how the club have chosen to operate the scheme with many critical of season ticket holders getting preference over holders of club memberships, regardless of previous loyalty.

Direct – The Anfield Wrap: Brewster, Shaqiri, World Cup And Evra’s Applause
Should supporters rebel against Klopp because he plays Karius? How can fans even ask that question? It’s ridiculous. Do you want to lose matches, the season, the manager, any prospective managers or goalkeepers? Then rebel against Klopp for playing Karius, who played well until one half of a game when he was concussed. What bollocks.
And, by the way, we are going to get another keeper–that is certain. Whether we can get Alisson is an open question; I’m sure we will get him if we can. (I personally think he is the only rational choice for an upgrade.) Otherwise, we will have some other keeper in who will be about the level of Karius and better than Mignolet. But that new keeper will make mistakes (even if it is Alisson–don’t kid yourself) and look foolish, and the supporters just have to stay with him. That’s what “support” means, and anyone who is comparing playing Karius to the whole mess of Hicks and Gillette has to be checked for a concussion himself! That was a serious fundamental crisis endangering the club’s very existence. Picking a player you don’t like does not compare.
By the way, I love the podcast and TAW in general. Really good stuff.
I’m super late to the party on this, but I would ADORE time listings on the free shows. Even if it is all killer and no filler, as a TAWPlayer subscriber it’s aggravating when you replay something from behind the paywall and I’m trying to guess where it stops and the awesomeness I haven’t heard before starts. There’s also a lot of local stuff and, yeah, some of these festivals sound great, but it’s kind of hard to get to them when you live on the other side of an ocean.
I’d never recommend it for the subscriber shows though. I can just see a Gutter time listing now:
0:00 Rob salivates over new rumors
37:15 Atko goes on a rant about Shaqiri
54:29 We talk about some Brazilian lad for thirty seconds
No need to do that fellas!
