What a Friday Show we have for you, setting up your weekend here on The Anfield Wrap.

We start in Manchester with our old rivals and our direct adversaries squaring off on Saturday night. Manchester City find themselves on the brink of a very strange season indeed. They have been imperious but there is every chance the fun stops now. What will Pep Guardiola do when Manchester United come to town? What should he do? David Mooney from the Blue Moon podcast comes to tell us about what he expects the weekend plans to be for the Sky Blues and what is achievable now in the Champions League. There is a league to be won this weekend you know.

Jose Mourinho would love nothing more than ruining the party and we caught up with Steve Armstrong from United We Stand to talk about the experienced manager’s status currently in Manchester along with how he envisages the weekend’s game going. There is nothing quite like the antipathy between these two clubs these days. It is full of the historic inequality with the recent monied parity making every aspect seem slightly surreal for supporters from both sides.

The other big game of the weekend is Liverpool facing Everton at Goodison Park. The Old Lady would normally be rocking but she is reluctant to even squeak for Sam Allardyce. What will give at the weekend for The Blues, in a Merseyside Derby they would be expecting to win? Matt Jones from The Blue Room is in to let us know how things are feeling in the Blue half of the city.

Overshadowing everything, even the league win, is next Tuesday’s return leg between Liverpool and Manchester City. Phil Blundell and Adam Melia are in to reflect and project – Liverpool teams, Liverpool ambitions, the whole lot is discussed here with your essential TAW look at the weekend action. It’s everything you need, hosted by Neil Atkinson and available if you click here to subscribe for £5 a month. The Anfield Wrap – accept no pale substitutes.
