It’s the question on Liverpool fans’ lips every single season – but this time, next season, could it finally be ours?
Gareth Roberts hosts a panel featuring Rob Gutmann, Andy Heaton, Neil Docking, Dan Morgan and Fuad Hasan to get into whether The Reds can compete with Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal when the new season comes around.
Where do the Reds need to improve to have a serious tilt at the title? Are City too good? And what of the problems at other clubs?
All this and more in another Big Question on The Anfield Wrap.
Brilliant show guys. Our intimate relationship with “Next Year” is about to be beautifully consummated in 2019
I applaud the optimism, but next year is the African Cup of Nations. Look how many we’ll be losing……
You do realise the tournament is now played in the summer…
Really enjoyed that one.
I’d like to see a pathway for younger players created.
Look at Trent?
Surely that shows we have players who, given the chance can break out from that under 23 side and make a real breakthrough in our team?
I only want Pulisic and Keita to come in next season.
Id be happy to see Brewster and Wilson given a chance in the first team to see if they are the real deal.
I think they will prove that they are, given the chance.
We need to take advantage of every youth player looking at Trent and saying “he is only 19 and he is playing champions league football, that could be me in a year to 18 months”
Klopp has created a pathway, I think we should nurture that even further.
I don’t want us to close that pathway by signing players who would stunt youth development of other bright talents.
And if you watch the u23’s , there are loads of players who could make it, given the opportunity.
The left back Lewis, for example…..
Liam Miller.
Jones..
Loads of them.
Try them before we buy someone who could hold the young player back.
Let’s make use of the academy, imo.
Great show fella’s.
I agree re youth only Alisson is another matter. As for Pusilic, id go for Sess. He’s a red.
FSG are ultimately building up the club to sell, at a massive profit. Will there be a better chance than there is now in which to build a legacy and increase the value to Max potential? Klopp has already said he wont be around for years, so lets say he’ll stay another 4 , before moving on, and so with the way things are moving, surely the net spend has to increase in order to give him the maximum chance of brining the title to L4.
I love the way things are being done, and i have no complaints, only i do feel that , if the right players are available, FSG need to spend more than they have done previously, simply because the title feels to be within touching distance.
There should also be a decent amount of money in sales, so there really is no excuse. Prudence has gotten the club into a stable position , brought us back from the brink, only there comes a time when the dice have to be rolled.
It doesn’t move to June/July until 2021
