Neil Atkinson is joined by Melissa Reddy, James McKenna and Dan Austin to get stuck into Liverpool’s slow moving summer. What to discuss? Well:
– Transfers, both ins and outs.
– Goalkeeping situation.
– What to expect from pre-season games this week.
Transfers are dominating the discussion as per usual but in combination with a discussion about a Liverpool manager who wants his first choices and who wants to be at the top table.

I think in the aftermath of buying Salah and the VVD shock everyone went into transfer meltdown for a bit. Now we’ve all settled down a bit there are factors we have to consider. We’ve all been there, if you have to tell your boss you’re leaving knowing he’s gonna feel betrayed, you don’t do it while you’re on holiday. You finish it then face it when you get back. At that point, we know both deals are down to the player needing to convince the clubs to let them go. If Lfc start poking in their noses in now it won’t be appreciated. We need patience whilst the clubs come around to the fact that they can’t keep someone who is desperate to leave. The next stages don’t involve Lfc publicly, only behind the scenes. The next we have to hear is Keita / Van Dijk have handed in transfer requests, they’ve pledged their future to their current clubs or club is resigned to losing player but insist he won’t be sold cheap etc. Only then can LFC enter publicly. Surely? I’m purely guessing those former statements are at least 3 weeks away. So, 5 weeks for a deal. Hope I’m wrong but it doesn’t strike me as imminent.
