Neil Atkinson hosts a special edition of The Anfield Wrap to mark Liverpool’s 125th Birthday on Saturday.
First he is joined by Gareth Roberts to talk about why the club is special, its identity and how it was shaped by European competition. Gareth then shares his best memories as a Red before a string of contributors do the same including Mari Lunde, Mike Nevin, Adam Smith, John Gibbons, Philippa Smallwood, Paul Senior and Rob Gutmann.
Up the landmark-reaching Reds. Happy birthday, LFC xxx 😘
Direct – Radio City Talk: 125 Years Of The Mighty Reds
Think there could be some serious content here, really enjoyed hearing about the contributors favourite games from the past.
Think it would be good to broaden the conversation and hear about the life and times from Liverpool fans all over the world, what drew them to supporting Liverpool , going to the game etc etc. Could do this with fans, contributors and the odd famous individual?
Would also like to hear more about the contributors and what they did prior to the conception of the Anfield wrap seeing as I and I’m sure others spend so much time listening to them. Just a thought.
Could really identify Mike’s choice, started supporting Liverpool in 77. At the time of this game I was 11 on a PGL school trip to the Brecon Beacons , hated every minute of it riding on bloody horses and canoeing alike.
Listened to this game on my transistor while the Disco was going on downstairs, Peter Jones, possibly the best radio commentator, in his inimitable way making the game come to life. Strange I can remember this more clearly than a game 2 years ago!
Anyway thanks for another great pod
