Anfield was covered in glorious sunshine at the weekend as Liverpool got a dress rehearsal ahead of Jürgen Klopp’s swansong in a fortnight… ANFIELD in the sun. You can’t beat Anfield in the sun. The chance to wear shorts, to drink outside in beer...
Are the final weeks of Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool tenure a disaster that’s been coming, or are they a setback on a trajectory set for revival? WELL, this isn’t good. The final days of Rome. Relationships in tatters, certainties atrophying toconcerns,...
Did scrapping FA Cup replays really come after consultation with lower league clubs, or have they had their dreams dashed to radio silence? THE dream was always Southend away in the cup. Others had different ambitions. For some it’s a big draw against a...
Liverpool committed a cardinal title race sin by letting Manchester City get ahead, but there is still time to turn the mood around at least… I DIDN’T watch it. The Manchester Marathon, the vagaries of BBC Sounds and a slowly dying phone were all I had. I...
Liverpool suffered another blow away at Manchester United this season, and it’s hard to hide the hurt as a supporter… IT’S an hour after the final whistle as I write this, so this is still pretty raw. I say that because you’ll be reading this on...
Fans of most teams will feel they’re hard done by with refereeing decisions, but it’s a problem that is impacting all of our enjoyment… ‘TUBE Strikes Imminent.’ In the days when the London Evening Standard used to put boards up outside Tube...
Changing an international flag on a football shirt or club crest for marketing highlights differences of opinion for many… I’ve spent much of this week in my car. My job means I’m up and down motorways for what seems like days at a time, but this time of...
Liverpool losing to rivals should rarely be accepted. Winning games is supposed to be hard, but you don’t lose like that… I can’t really win with this. It’s about twelve hours after the game and the most pointless sending off ever and I...
What Jürgen Klopp’s latest Liverpool side produced against Guardiola’s Manchester City was something to behold – and a privilege to watch… A privilege. An absolute privilege to sit/stand through that. For the money we pay, for the time...
After Darwin Nunez’s winning goal at the death against Nottingham Forest, where do the concerns of Liverpool supporters lie? WERE you killed by the stream? I was. 98 minutes on the clock and the buffering wheel of despair appeared on my screen. Just...
The third episode of season one of The Pub Crawlers Podcast was recorded in Nottingham, as Rob Gutmann hosts Steve Graves and Martin Fitzgerald to discuss the local pub scene, Indian restaurants, students, and more…
The Pub Crawlers Podcast represents a quest to find the very best authentic UK pubs, filmed on location inside some of the finest boozers across the UK and Ireland.
Well, sort of. It’s equally about friends having three to four pint-fuelled, quintessential pub conversations, on any subjects that damn well occur to them, in a range of outstanding boozers across the land. So, really, it’s as much about what we get up to in pubs as the pubs themselves.
The shows are presented by self-styled boozer connoisseur and long-time pub designer and owner, Rob Gutmann, who is on a mission to find the very best pubs in the UK and to define the essence of the ‘true’ pub.
Featuring a wide range of guests (mainly Rob’s mates), we’ll be visiting pubs the length and breadth of the country, bedding into the very best of them, and chatting about our lives lived in and around boozers.
The first season of the Pub Crawlers focuses on the North of England, taking in Chester, Sheffield, Manchester, Liverpool, and even a brief foray to the north side of the Midlands in Nottingham.
Plug yourself in to the ongoing conversation as it disappears down all manner of tenuously pub-related worm holes, with your new mates at TPC. And you don’t need a pint to enjoy us, but it might help…
