JÜRGEN Klopp insisted that it isn’t crazy to be positive about Liverpool’s future this week as the Reds look to continue to strengthen ahead of next season.
Aside from the well-known targets — Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Naby Keita — there have been some other exciting names linked with a move to Merseyside.
The first of those is ALEXANDRE LACAZETTE with The Express reporting that the striker’s agents will meet with officials from Liverpool this week to discuss a potential move.
The Frenchman looked destined for a move to Atletico Madrid until the Spanish club were handed a transfer ban and it seems the Reds could profit from Atleti’s loss.
Lacazette scored 37 goals in all competitions for Lyon this season and a parting of ways this summer looks inevitable with a host of clubs interested.
Another striker who is understood to be high on Liverpool’s list of priorities this summer is RB Leipzig’s TIMO WERNER.
Reports in The Independent suggest that the 21-year-old is a top target for Klopp, having scored 21 goals to help fire Leipzig to a second-placed finish in the Bundesliga.
Meanwhile, the same outlet suggest that Klopp will turn towards Hull’s ANDREW ROBERTSON after pulling out of the race to sign Ryan Sessegnon.
Left-back is a position which needs strengthening this summer with Alberto Moreno looking set to leave the club and Sessegnon reportedly preferring to stay in London with a move to Tottenham on the cards.
And Robertson is believed to be the player the Reds are looking at to compete with the makeshift left-back James Milner next season.
Elsewhere, MAXIMILIAN MEYER has turned down a new deal at Schalke with Liverpool and Tottenham reportedly interested.
German newspaper Bild say the 21-year-old has a year left on his contract and Schalke may be forced to cash in if they can’t get the midfielder to sign.
And Lazio’s KEITA BALDE has been given a week to decide his future according to Italian outlet Corriere Dello Sport.
The Senegalese forward is another Liverpool target with a year left on his contract and could be an option if a deal for Salah can’t be agreed.
