Liverpool changed their shape this season – Klopp 433 being something we hadn’t seen much of last year. Could he do something like that again? What sort of transfer moves should Liverpool be looking at making?
Neil, Sean and Ben look at all the angles.

Direct – Radio City Talk: Klopp’s Second Summer
Enough Square pegs in round holes. We need 5 decent additions brought in, in the summer. That is without replacing the likes of Mignolet, Can, Moreno & Sturridge, if they go. Sean Rogers is a good listen, but I wish he wouldn’t keep calling players ‘ projects’
Players like Dahoud and Brandt are decent, but they are still young and are far from being outstanding players. We need one or two players brought in who are more experienced imo.
Pointless having different striking options if Klopp is only going to play one way. For me, I’d play Mane up top, that is if we buy another pacey wide man.
You’re saying Llorente, but we were all moaning about Benteke, because he didn’t fit into our system. Might of well kept Benteke, then. I’m not saying anyone is right or wrong, but let not all complain if do try and change it up.
My personal opinion is I would like to see another striker being signed to give us another option, but it’s pointless doing that if we try and fit that player into our current way of playing – you either sign him so we have a different way of playing, or you don’t bother. Pointless signing him and still try and play the same way, then blame the player, because he doesn’t fit into our system eg Benteke
Sorry for going on, but you raise some interesting issues (as always).
Klopp, in my opinion, does need to vary his attacking options. Most of the “lesser” teams we play and have caused us difficulty, play deep defensively and pack the midfield. We are essentially narrow in midfield relying on the fullbacks. A winger, in the style of Arjen Robben, with a good and sometimes early delivery into the box, would stretch defences and give Mane, in a central role, or even Origi, more opportunity to score.
From the discussion, not a word on Grujic? Woodburn, Ejaria, Wilson, Ojo……save a lot without an academy.
Brandt and Pulisic are Young but so is Draxler and he’s looked pretty good on the left wing with diMaria and Cavani. I can see why Klopp went after him.
I do agree about another CB. Think Klopp wants Tah? Sule?
Should be fun summer. The speculation should be good for a bunch of shows Til we know!
We need several new players imo.
Goalkeeper, centreback, leftback, defensive midfielder, wide attacker and striker.
And that’s without CL football.
A left winger definitely seems to be a target which begs the question, what does this mean for Coutinho?
Does he move centrally?
Are we planning a complete formation change?
For me Klopp has made some mistakes this season regarding team selection, fair enough play firmino in the big games and use his energy, but against poorer opposition when we’re playing mainly in the final third play sturridge up front. He’s a much better finisher and will give you that goal out of nothing that you need against stubborn opposition. I feel sorry for Studge this season, doesn’t play for long periods gets brought in for the Southampton cup game, misses a couple because he’s out of rhythm and gets bombed again. Klopp needs to be more flexible with his number 9’s, we don’t need Firmino’s workrate against the bottom 10.
We don’t need a Lorente plan B scenario with wingers looking to knock the ball into the box from both sides and I would be extremely surprised to see Klopp go down that path.
One more belter up top, another playmaker in midfield, a center back and a goalie. Sorted.
doesn’t seem to have been picked up, but Sean’s comment that Matip was signed as 4th choice CB is extremely interesting – would love to know where that came from.
