PODCAST: OUTSIDE INTERFERENCE

Think there maybe an issue with the sound levels on the last couple of pods guys, sounds quite buzzy to me. Not having a go, I know you’re probably aware.
Football technical point : Sturridge weakness for me is that when on goal he favours opening up his body and sign-posting his attempt to pass the goalkeeper wide. Actually I think many players have this habit, is it a modern (FIFA Game) thing?
Just feel it often takes away from the Direct and instant strike. My memory might fail me but Rush was a master of instant, quick direct shooting.
end of message :)
Rob Gutmann has never been more confident heading into a derby (although he wasn’t privy to the comeback Everton just made tbf).
Rob Gutmann reckons Rodgers just thinks it’s heads on social media giving him down the banks when he saw a lad flicking him the Vs on a night his team got booed multiple times last Wednesday.
Rob Gutmann is a crazy man.
(No offence, Rob. I envy your optimism.)
I’ve now heard it all: Rob Gutmann opined that Lucas Leiva’s first half performance was problematic (even though he wasn’t sure if it was his fault).
Game of opinions and all that, but seriously, have a word with yourself, Sir!
To help you out:
Here’s Lucas Leiva’s pass dashboard:
http://www.fourfourtwo.com/statszone/8-2015/matches/803223/player-stats/43191/1_PASS_01#:xC0nPt03DXOhMA
52 out of 56 successful passes in the first half
45 out of 49 successful passes in the first half
Here’s his tackles dashboard:
http://www.fourfourtwo.com/statszone/8-2015/matches/803223/player-stats/43191/3_DEFENCE_01#:y8y3m00KW_OhMA
6 out 6 successful tackles in the 1st half, 5 of which in Villa’s half of the pitch.
5 out of 5 successful tackles in the 2nd half, 4 of which in our half, and one barely in Villa’s half.
And so on.
And then, there’s the old-fashioned way of making sure one’s analysis is fact-based:

Introducing the guests and not interrupting them every 2 or 3 minutes might be an idea. Just a (constructive) thought.
Such a shame Si Hughes was interrupted in mid flow. His insight, as a national journalist and as someone with presumably good contacts within the club would have been interesting. We’d all love to know more about why the club isn’t interested in Klopp.
Because FSG are success-shy shitbags who’d rather finish 6th and not be pestered by some demanding soccer manager into trying to win things. At least that’s my feeling anyway but I’m just spitballing. It could be the reason why Ian Ayre may have warned them off Benitez at some point. An easy life making a load of money without having to strive for anything beyond mediocrity.
Look at the summer business of 2013 and then Ayre fumbling around the Ukraine the following January. Brendan and the main group of players caught lightening in a bottle but for the ownership it’s starting to feel more and more like that season was a happy accident for them.
It’s a crazy situation we find ourselves in with regards our defence/keeper.
For the last 2 summers we’ve had big overhauls of the squad with the numbers of players that have came in and now we find ourselves needing another overhaul this time with the defence.
At the min the only players I see worth holding onto in the defence is Moreno, Clyne, Gomez, Sakho and possibly Skrtel. We pretty much need 2 new centrebacks, a new keeper and possibly 2 new fullbacks. If Flanno recovers I’m all for him staying but he’s been out injured for quite some time now.
If we persist with wing backs (I much prefer a back 4) then we need cover for Moreno. If we do play a back 4 who is the cover for Clyne while Flanno is still out? Gomez??? I really like the lad but he is an 18yr old rookie. I’d be giving him games in the cups as much as possible this year and then hopefully he can take Toures place as 4th choice centreback next season.
I really hope we are already scouting centrebacks and keepers for Jan/summer.
It’s vitally important we sort the defence out very quickly. It’s should be built around Sakho and Clyne. If Moreno keeps improving then he could nail down that spot too. Mignolets chances are running out. I’d start giving Bogdan all the cup games now and have a real close look at him. There may come a time in the not too far distant future where he may have to become our first choice.
It doesn’t take very much for a team to score against us as seen on Sat, we sort that out and it will go a long way to help us turn things around. Everton and Lukaku is gonna be a real test.
Fantastic discussion as always boys but I have to ask, are you planning to do a show discussing nothing but FSG and how you see them as owners in the future?
Cheers. That’s been done a couple of times as a TAW Unwrapped show, Ben. GR
