The long and the short of it with Balotelli is that he missed some crucial goal-scoring chances.
As for the question “what has he done for LFC to warrant the team being organized around him?”, I have this to say: Had he scored all of those very near-misses, he’d have been deemed to have “done more than enough”.
And it’s a matter of proper use of the personnel available, not “changing the team around to fit a single person’s style”. You know, Rodgers’ forte . . .
I’m a Lucas fan, but by all accounts he was far more counter active to Brendan’s “group” last season.
Simon, do you want to expand on that?
We ended up with a choice between Mario and Eto late last summer as Brendan pulled the plug on the Remy deal (at the last minute) and dithered on Bony all summer… do the research to get the true facts.
As bad as the deal turned out we still could have got more out of Mario but to be fair the whole team was a shambles… but he’s gone so time to move on and hope Benteke proves to be a hit.
