Enjoyed the discussion but as someone who couldn’t watch the game I felt you could’ve stayed on track a bit more. Nothing to be said about the goals? Sorry if i missed. Would’ve preferred a more traditional breakdown.
Totally agree with Neil’s point about Ibe and Lallana. Firmino starting wider and coming in as an inside forward with either Ibe or Lallana on the other side would provide more balance?
I think that Ibe will improve that ability to get his head up and pick a pass as he develops. On the positive side, he is constantly in the game, wants the ball and tries to make a difference over the 90 minutes. Lallana on the other hand is technically very good but drifts in and out of games all the time. I think in the Adelaide game he must have given the ball away 5-6 times under average amounts of pressure. He’s a great finisher but he needs to be far more consistent with his build up play and occasionally play the easy pass right in front of him. Personally I think he would be better as an AM behind the striker, but in this team the chances of that are slim.
