Footy has been really depressing of late, so to cheer up any other mopers, I’d like to say “BOOBIES!”.
Regarding this ‘Liverpool family’ thing, is it worth getting irate over? I know people reading this will think ‘shut up knobhead’ but I also care about the identity of the club. Aware though, of what Liverpool needs to do, across the board, to return to the top (whether we like it or not), i’m prepared to turn a blind eye to stuff like this. Someone on the podcast said it themselves – (but not in this context) it’s means nothing. They’re right, it’s just nothingness. I pay it no attention. When Mighty Red starts celebrating with the players and ‘Tom Hark’ comes on after a goal then I’ll happily go to war. Not over this type of stuff though. Its pointless.
.
Guys love the Show and ofcourse the varied opinions.. Having said that I found the opinions on the Man U game to be extremely negative. So negative that you might have thought Liverpool were really poor.
In fact I think we look quite better balanced compared to when we played Southampton and when we played at OT last season. It was a performance where we can be very positive. There was no mention of the new formation and considering how much time they had to prepare it can only be a good thing.
Sturridge and Suarez look good of course both need games for more sharpness and understanding and Moses got another game under his belt.
Granted its not his preffered position but he gave what he could considering his fitness levels.
Of course as you said the main worry would be the set pieces. We are switching off for one moment and getting punished. The concentration levels must be addressed.
Also our midfield I would also like to see Alberto in the apex of that midfield to see where we are at with him. Don’t also discount Joe Allen in Gerrard’s position moving Gerrard further forward. The great thing is that there are options where before there were not this time last season.
It’s a long way to go…We were not as bad as this podcast continually harked on about..
Clearly we will do well this season.
well, the running out of legs is because we play a big pitch game.
Rodgers likes to use the whole pitch from 16 yards out and pass it everywhere and be patient / press the ball on turnover.
That makes it a lot of ground to cover, especially for the central guys and the wide men. Just like Swansealona except they are masters at it and don’t attack as directly ie slower.
Hence we’re knackered on 50 mins. Compare it to Spurs who compress the game into the opponents half so immediately cut out a lot of distance to be covered and runners and wide men, which is what they rely on, don’t have nearly as much distance to cover. Also they barely concede.
Utd like to either break or play around the opponents penalty area. Other teams absorb and then break, like chelsea but also have stronger benches to take the strain.
At some point Rodgers is going to have to confront the fact that we don’t have a big pitch squad of players and make our play more efficient.
We’re suffering because Borini and Aspas haven’t cut the mustard, Alberto and Sterling are a bit fresh. That’s a lot of players who aren’t really going to do it for us when it would be nice to play them for 30mins every game.
Also, you have to acknowledge that it wasn’t surprising that Henderson didn’t score his opportunity.
He doesn’t have the courage to be a goal scorer. He wants to pass a ball through to someone else. It’s a big limitation to his game that he isn’t threatening when it comes to the penalty box. And his engine allows him to get away with it because he runs all over the place.
Lets not lose sight of the fact that up front we’ve only recruited DS and Coutinho that could handle / be top 4 standard. That simply isn’t good enough for what we want after 3 transfer windows.
Rodgers will never get his 20 goal improvement at this rate and the younger ones are still 2 seasons away from being regular starters.
The worrying thing is if we go through another couple of windows and find we have Borini, Aspas, Alberto and Borini2, Aspas2, Alberto2.
That will cement 8th place for us.
Alright lads, another great show. Juts a heads up that the City Walls song you played, isn’t the City Walls. Its actually my song from when I was on the show promoting the Shoebox Musical. Just think you should play the City walls on your next show
