I sent the following email out to a few writers this morning as I’ve noticed and felt an increasing number of disturbances in the ether:
I’d like to invite each of you to hit me with 500 Words On Lawrenson. 500 words on that wretch who pollutes football with his aching disappointment and misery. No worries if you don’t fancy it.
I think it is time a line is drawn. Lawrenson needs stopping. Let’s get him before he gets us.

We’re uploading the responses in threes at half hour intervals. I sent this email at 11:43am. I had the first response at 12:59pm from Iain MacIntosh. Mike Nevin’s wasn’t long after. It’s fair to say people have a fair bit to get off their chest.

‘Lawro’ gets on my tits too, has done for a few years now. So just one question Neil: What has the droopy-faced bastard done in the last day or so to earn this series of soapbox vents?
We all know what went on in the last Man U game, but Lawro sat there afterwards taking badly informed pot shots at LFC and simply towed the BBC’s Man Utd cannot do no wrong in our eyes line!
His comments were so ill-informed you couldn’t even say he was scripted by the Beeb to say them.
Surely he doesn’t need to self-publicise, does he?
Or has this the way football has gone now, we pay to watch or have to tollerate the gossiping of the Fat Pat Butcher and Hilda Ogen!

Hard to imagine a great Lfc player would turn into someone universally disliked by lfc fans- though saying that, do fans of any club like his downbeat, miserable and ill informed comments. Hate it when ex players try to be impartial by becoming anti the club they played for! Made even worse considering his apalling record as a manager / coach.
Say what you see Lawro, not what the BBC or certain managers you bump into would want you to say!
Starting to prefer Gary Neville as a pundit. Actually….maybe not!
