There’s one potentially quite important factor in the Carroll saga which I haven’t heard you mention yet. Newcastle are around our level in the league at present, and should Andy return there and hit some form, he could potentially score the goals to help them finish above us in the league again. We would have serious egg on our faces and Pardew’s smug face would not be slow to make the point I’m sure… I think selling him back to Newcastle is a huge and embarassing gamble. I would also hope that Brendan then brings in at least 2 very good strikers if he does move him on, but instead he seems to be looking at another centre mid player when we have lots of them…
