GET ON IT
How come Joe cole is on record saying he sold Chelsea to Eden Hazard. Isnt this a player who is on LFC payroll. What kind of bastards were we signing. I hope we have the balls to return him in a sack. Rat.
I like listening to this pod but boy was there a whole lot of twaddle talked on this edition. Perhaps the sun has dimmed everybody’s brain … a good long lie down in a darkened room listening to what you’ve just opined would not be time wasted.
When the new manager comes in all fans should wish him well and as such ‘get behind the team’. That should be a given at any club in almost all circumstances. But right now there should be no need to try to persuade ourselves that over the course of last season Roberto Martinez’s Wigan or Brendan Rodgers’ Swansea played better football than Kenny Dalglish’s Liverpool. That just wasn’t so and we all know it.
I have seen no evidence that they are better managers than Kenny. I’m damn sure Kenny doesn’t see any either. The likelihood that they will get this current squad to play better than he got them doing most of the time is remote. Maybe they will be luckier … maybe. Probably not.
Hey ho, oh for a season next year where two cups are almost won. (Btw, not a bad first full season for a manager, that, if you don’t have a £300m squad to play with, as LFC do not and will not in the foreseeable future.)
Anybody even dreaming of a cup win for 2012-13? Anyone deluded re top 4? Thought not. In the prem, LFC’s realistic chances of top 4 are slim … and slim left town with King Kenny.
And good luck selling the vision to Luis Suarez that tells him, ‘Hey, Luis, you’re not going to play in the Europa League or domestic cups at all, unless LFC make, say, last 8 or even semis. We’re playing the kids in those competitions. For you, Luis, it’s all about finishing a bit better than 8th in the league … 6th would be a good result for the new regime.’
Get serious, will ya?
If LFC’s owners are not very careful players of the calibre of Luis Suarez will soon be a memory, and LFC, like Villa, will end up in the position of being grateful that journeymen pro’s like Stewie Downing condescended to play for them.
I hate to say it but one BIG problem with LFC at the mo is some fans who have to have ‘a 5 year plan’ … I hear no such bullshit emanating from Villa Park. Villa are simply looking for the best man they can get, hopefully one who is better than the last one they had.
It should be ditto for Liverpool … but it’s not – and the reason why is that every LFC fan knows in their guts that neither Martinez or Rodgers is an improvement on Dalglish, and so a mystical vision of ‘progress’ and ‘Year Zero’ must be drawn up in their heads to cover their embarrassment at what has happened and is about to happen. Really – have that lie down in the dark and think about it.
My prediction. Points if not also position wise LFC will finish nearer 14th than 4th for the next 3 seasons, at least. I’d like to think Luis Suarez will still be a Liverpool player come the 2014 World cup finals, but I think it highly unlikely. He wants to win trophies. He wants Champions League football. He will leave sooner rather than later.
I don’t need to add that I hope with all my heart that I am completely and utterly wrong with those predictions.
Love the podcast, but can we not have to listen to whoever is drinking, swig and screw a cap on every 2 minutes?
It was Neil, he had a bad throat.
