Neil and pretty much everyone bar Kristian cram into Parr Street to record this year’s Christmas podcast along with Frankie Goes to Hollywood guitarist Brian Nash who answers THAT question about THAT single.

I was genuinely shocked at how negative most of the Fulham match commentary was, particularly when it was the kind of win we’ve been lacking for so long – soundly defeating a woefully underperforming side. There was a dismissive tone by a number of commentators which was very much at odds with both the result and the strong performances from most of our players.
Hate to say this, but this latest installment made EPLTalk’s weekly EPL roundup sound sensible and balanced by comparison.
Aaron, I can see where you’re coming from but I tend to disagree. I think there was praise where due but it’s important we don’t keep swinging back and forth wildly between over the top praise and despair. I thought if anything they were pretty lenient after the Villa defeat (bad day at the office, etc.. when I thought there were a lot deeper problems that could have been addressed) and I think this was a pretty even-tempered response. A good game, and a great result, but Fulham barely turned up and we probably shouldn’t get too carried away.
Most of this stuff is hardly Prime Ministers’s Question Time is it?
How about this…..
Board Room Interviews:-
FSG: Who’s next up?
FSG: A guy called Rodgers he knows a lot.
FSG:Hi Brendan how can you make LFC great again?
Rodgers:I know about Tikka and Takka and Pass and Move!
FSG: Jeez, this guy knows about “pass and move”this is what the Shankly guy used to do.And he must have done Tikka Takks aswell!
Well,I’m putting my own hat in now. Why? Because I knew that Stoke would play hard and physical.I knew as sure as God made little apples that you had to man up against Stoke.I knew that Tikka Takka (or whatever it is) was not a tactic to be employed against Stoke.
You think back to some of the hard games we’ve had over the years.Paisley wasn’t afraid to muscle in against the old Man City cloggers.Dalglish knew that there was no point in playing pass and move against some of the more aggressive Everton and Bolton teams.Benitez knew how to handle the rough stuff when necessary.
Tonight was a team bereft of any direction or planning. No idea whatsoever of any semblance of organisation.
And you are telling me to give this man another couple of seasons to get everything right? To change and replace a squad of International footballers that everybody else seems to do OK with?
I must be on the wrong page here.Or maybe I need to give him another 5 or 6 seasons?
That’s what you get when you buy a manager via a catalogue; especially one he wrote himself. I have no faith in him whatsoever. The club should just listen to the pre-match podcast and pick the team on the panel’s recommendations.
Our manager is a fraud, a complete tosser. Poor old bloody Roy got crucified for less than this man presents.
Just 12 months at least Brian. If the second half of this season is equally as poor as the first and and then we’re not noticeably better off by Christmas next season then I’d join you – we all will. Let’s just say we sack Rodgers tomorrow? Who comes in? How much time do we give the new man to get his ideas over? It’s just a continual lack of stability being that ruthless. I thought this season was all about stability for the club to build on.
You go on about him being a rookie but then what had Shankly and Dalglish won as managers prior to becoming LFC manager? Yes, we’ve gone for a rookie as you know but it’s hoped he’ll be smart enough to be able to learn quickly from mistakes. It’s not long to wait to find out whether he is or isn’t smart.
I’m frustrated too and a little baffled by certain things and certain performances but then I have been by all our managers, at times, since the early 90’s. Where we differ though is I can buy into the notion that it’s better to have a steady platform and then go looking for success (even if at first you don’t find it) rather than looking for success oblivious to how stable things are. If our next big aim on the pitch is getting in the CL again then off the pitch it has to be healing the fractures in the club. It’s not easy marrying the two so soon after the depths we sank but if we ride out the next 12 months we’ll be in a much better place going forward, with or without Rodgers. I think giving him some time is a minimum requirement though.
