Captain Fantastic

Thought Henderson was unreal for us tonight, proper captain’s performance. In the ref’s ear when he needed to be and was making important tackles and interceptions all game. @jsexton24

Henderson great. Those big booming passes such an asset. Keeps them guessing. @johngibbonsblog

Matip Off The Pace

Thought Matip wasn’t great but first league game back and that. @jsexton24

Matip strangely out of sorts. Looks rusty. Maybe an FA Cup fourth round might have helped… @johngibbonsblog

Mad Emre

Thought Can and Wijnaldum great, Firmino and Matip a bit out of sorts. @PaulSenior1

Can is mad. Won some headers tonight, like. But wish he’d kick it to them less. @johngibbonsblog

A Shoe-In

Let’s all have a chat about what happens on 90. Cahill points to his boot being off. Clattsy tells him to go off the pitch and sort it. Courtouis throws it out. AND LIVERPOOL GAVE THE BALL BACK. @johngibbonsblog

Honestly though, lads. We gave them the ball back. For a shoe. @johngibbonsblog

No Room For Subs

People will ask why Klopp didn’t make more subs or earlier subs but I sort of understand. The second half was played at a mad pace. Even Mane struggled to get to grips with it. @johngibbonsblog

Klopp hates subs. @michaeltnevin

Buy A Bastard

Funny that I’ve literally just put the wildcards show on about buying a bastard / being more like bastards having watched them tonight. They would never have given us that ball back in a million years. Fucking league-winning gang of bastards. @paul7cope

Another Year Gone?

If we finished second we’ve had a decent season. If you finish above sides who sign £35million players as squad players you’ve done well. Especially when £35m is our marquee signing. @PaulSenior1

I’m gutted we haven’t won it, it’s another year now, which is frankly heartbreaking. But I feel like we’ve got a decent base to build on. There was fight there in the main — they didn’t lay down and die. Klopp has squeezed loads out of what he’s got but we need more quality. @robbohuyton

If we keep all our best players (which it looks like we will) we’ll stroll the league next year with four new Champions League signings — I’m not counting Sturridge. He’s clearly finished with us. @paul7cope
