AN early Anfield Wrap to celebrate a good result and an excellent performance – Liverpool 2 Manchester United 0.
Neil Atkinson hosts Chris Maguire, John Gibbons and Ben Johnson as they go through how Liverpool took Manchester United apart for this week’s early free podcast.
Adam Lallana and Roberto Firmino come in for specific praise – both contributed brilliantly for The Reds.
The manager’s substitutions are also praised – Klopp got it right when he needed to.
It is always brilliant to beat United, but getting the first European win also feels big. What about the second leg?
The Anfield Wrap finds itself in great voice. You know you want to listen to this one.

So funny Albi Mareno and the Vitality Dog haha
Mareno does remind me of a very young lad who has just found out a new trick ie big jump tackle
I would love to see us now for the next home games come out and greet the team bus again flags fireworks banners the lot
If we win on Thursday plus the league is giving us an opportunity of finishing 4th now
We should show Klopp and the team what it’s like to get fans behind them play our part create the buzz ect ect ..
Richard Hillman should play in goal for the reds with Tinhead at left back.
Also, Ben Johnson is great at talking footy. Could listen to him all day.
Great show, and you’re spot on about Coutinho and Sturridge. I’ve said it before but it has to be Lallana or Milner, not both, and Lallana offers more on current form. Playing both unbalances the team: too many carriers, not enough players, not enough numbers.
I’d start Sturridge & Firmino on Thursday: an early goal closes the tie. Origi’s looking great, but he doesn’t yet look a goal threat. What he does do is stretch the game when defenders tire. Here’s to Klopp and Big Divvy making a fool of me.
Most improved players under Klopp: Clyne, Lovren, Can, Lallana, Allen, Bobby F and Origi. That’s quite the achievement. Imagine what a close season with Ings, Gomez, Sturridge and Benteke (if we keep him) might result in!
As for Sakho: United’s foward players were clealry instructed to let him have the ball. Good luck with that.
