“We stand or fall by decisions as a group” does *sound* a lot like Liverpool, Neil. Then again: https://sg.sports.yahoo.com/news/ayre-dalglish-not-hung-dry-over-suarez-234916754–soccer.html
That ‘all in it together’ line was catchy as fuck like, to be fair. Wonder where he lifted that off…
He’s great at all the businessmanning and a fan from the Merseyside area but every time he opens his mouth he’s so mind bogglingly, painfully un-Liverpool it defies belief. He just can’t help himself. We’re halfway through the summer (whisper it but this might just be the first decent summer window in 8 years. Frigging 8!) and he’s already jonesing to say some fucking shit. Why is this man feeling the need to be smug and braggadocios when he should still be cowed and embarrassed over how last season ended? Falling as a group and that. On the face of things he’s been getting through decent work this summer, so just let it speak for itself.
Stop talking, Ian! We’re 6 weeks after 6-1 and 6 weeks before we go back there when a ball actually gets kicked by these players you’ve done well in signing so just hold your horses and be quiet rather than smug please. Quiet like you were during the Suarez-Evra race row when Dalglish got battered (was that standing or falling together?) Quiet like you were when all the other suits around you thought it made perfect sense to sack Benitez and bring Hodgson in (standing/falling/etc.) Y’know, that kind of quiet. Stop pretending to stand or fall and just be quiet.
What does Ayre Supply? seems all out of love…
What does Ian Ayre need to do to catch a break around here?
People complain that there is no communication for a few weeks then find fault with an innocuous interview where he makes some fairly bland but positive comments.
Ayre is right to point out that the risks of getting in to a situation like we had previously where you bring in expensive players whose salary costs result in the club making loses. People might feel that Hicks and Gillette should have backed Rafa more in the transfer market, but the fact is player costs were running at a very high level during that time, so the comparison Ayre made is perfectly valid.
yeah i feel like he can’t win… but maybe that’s valid. i can probably subscribe to the notion that suits should never get the benefit of the doubt. there is something intrinsically untrustworthy about them. the very existence of ‘PR’ as a thing confirms that.
