MO, mo, mo he’s magic, yer know.

For all the grief that comes his way, Liverpool fans owe Jose Mourinho a debt of immense gratitude.

With Mourinho’s recent hypocritical cryarsing about Manchester City and Liverpool spending money, the man who has spent more money than any other in the history of football would do well to remember that both sides’ shining lights are only where they are now because Jose, in his infinite wisdom, decided that neither of them where good enough for his chequebook-built Chelsea side.

Chelsea’s Jose-inflicted loss has undoubtedly been Liverpool’s and Man City’s gain — a surprise given Jose’s own proclamations about believing and developing talent.

After bagging another brace in a rare one-goal win for Liverpool, the Egyptian magician currently has 17 goals in 19 Premier League games this season and is showing no signs of letting up.

Having never registered more than 15 league goals in an entire season before arriving at Liverpool, and to then beat that before the turn of the year in his first season in a red shirt, is a huge compliment not only to the player but also to the much-maligned scouting department who saw something in Salah that others clearly did not.

Not that Michael Edwards can’t afford a decent scran, but the feather in his cap that is Salah is something that he could probably dine out on for the rest of his career.

But even in their wildest dreams they couldn’t have imagined the instant impact that Mo has had.

Maybe it’s luck, maybe it’s brilliant scouting, maybe it’s looking for small details that others are missing, maybe it’s taking a unique skillset and putting it in a position where the absolute maximum can be extracted or maybe it’s a combination of all the above.

What is clear is that on current form, and given the length of the purple patch, who’s to argue it isn’t just his level?

Liverpool have landed the bargain of the season in Salah, who continues to pay massive dividends.
