A VERY different sort of win, but isn’t that what we craved? Backs to the wall. Resolute. The Reds don’t mind it up ’em. Throw the kitchen sink and we’ll volley it over the gasworks. Unlucky, you Manc bastards. Have a go next year.

Simon Mignolet: 10

He saves to the left…
He saves to the RIGHHHTTTT…
That Simon Mignolet…
Makes Clemence look shite.

Nathaniel Clyne: 7

Didn’t have much chance to go forward but didn’t give anything away at the back. He’s sound you know

James Milner: 8

Was marking the best player on the pitch. Did brilliantly. His intercept and pass first half to Firmino deserved an assist. Even if the stats won’t give him one.

Dejan Lovren: 7

Started slowly but grew into it. Terrific last 20. He’s sound you know.

Ragnar Klavan: 7

Looked the worst player on the pitch for a while but then he really stepped up. Covered his full backs superbly.

Jordan Henderson: 7

Pray 4 Jordan.

Emre Can: 8

Really really really good.

Georginio Wijnaldum: 9

My hero, my mate. Up for a neck New Year’s, lad? Meet you in Popworld.

Bobby Firmino: 7

Didn’t see loads of it but keeps it brilliantly. Will have more fun days.

Sadio Mane: 8

Real tough performance. Left everything on the pitch. In a bit, Sadio. Stay safe.

Adam Lallana: 7

Nothing flashy but was back and forth in position without fuss. Player of the year.

Subs:

Divock Origi: 7

Ran channels. Bashed lads. Kept balls. He’s sound you know.

Lucas Leiva: n/a

Didn’t throw his boots in The Kop so might be around for a while yet. Hope so. He’s sound you know.
