The match ratings from Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Sunderland.

Loris Karius: 8

Another clean sheet for the young German, clearly gives no fucks what you think and good for him. Two decent saves in each half in angled one v one situations.

Bar giving a soft corner away, made an absolute mug of everyone with his lofted lay off with a few minutes to James Milner at 1-0 and had everyone in a flap.

Nathaniel Clyne: 7

Regulate. Seemed to always be an option in the box.

Joel Matip: 8

Didn’t get sucked into any Sunderland nonsense, dealt with Jermain Defoe and Victor Anichebe comfortably enough and is currently giving a certain Big Finn a run for his money for bargain of the last century.

Dejan Lovren: 8

Taking turns to have mad runs at the oppo defence. Ridiculous backheel for Emre Can IN HIS OWN AREA late on when under pressure, seems like a completely different lad this year.

James Milner: 7

Scored a pen. Crossed loads. Put the game to bed.

Jordan Henderson: 7

Toiled in front of Sunderland’s back 18 but never lost concentration and kept plugging away.

Emre Can: 8

Got into his stride early on, inches away a few times in judgement and timing but his best game of the season so far.

Georginio Wijnaldum: 7

Holds the ball up so well and looked physically the strongest player on the pitch today.

Sadio Mane: 8

Frustrated for 75 minutes and then becomes the most important and influential player in the last 15 to make it count.

Philippe Coutinho: 7

GBNF…

Roberto Firmino: 8

Does not lose the ball ever, the ultimate offensive troll, which possibly explains the top-knot.

SUBS

Changes the method and angle of attack for the Reds, seemed to be more direct as the game wore on

Inch perfect finish to relieve a billion tons of pressure off the entire stadium to give the Reds the lead.

Better than Lionel Messi.
