WE’RE now firmly into the aftermath of Liverpool’s goalless draw at Southampton and opinion has been divided on the result and where it leaves the Reds.
It’s not an awful result, in my opinion. You’re going to get games where it doesn’t quite come off, there are still plenty of positives to take.
Wijnaldum: We Have To Keep Perspective
Georginio Wijnaldum was recalled to the starting 11 on Saturday, after Adam Lallana sustained an injury on international duty, and has been providing us with an insight into manager Jürgen Klopp’s thoughts on the game.
He said: “The manager was positive. He said ‘You must not be negative about the game, we did a lot of good things, we created a lot of chances and stopped them creating chances’.
“The manager is a positive guy, a positive manager and he was satisfied with the game we played. We have to keep it in perspective.”

Klopp: We Have Become The Team To Stop
It shouldn’t be overlooked that we still played some good stuff at times on Saturday. Southampton are no pushovers and they were clearly set up to thwart us even if it meant they posed no threat to our goal. And Klopp says we will have to get used to teams playing that way.
He said: “A lot of teams play like this against us, we cannot change what they do. I don’t know what they think, you have to ask them.
“We are [a team] to stop, unfortunately. The only thing what we have to make sure is that it’s not because of us, that’s what I’m so happy about today.”

Reds Searching For Mane AFCON Replacement
Absolutely fuming that Senegal are trying to hinder out title charge, you know. Sadio Mane has been a crucial cog in Klopp’s side so far this campaign and the manager has suggested they could be tempted into the market to look for a replacement for the temporary absentee.
Goal.com are suggesting that one such target could be Bayer Leverkusen’s Julian Brandt, though the Reds are believed to be exploring a number of options ahead of the winter window.
Christian Pulisic is another name that continues to be linked with a move to Merseyside, so it will be interesting to see how that situation develops.

Been absolutely boss, has Joel Matip. Him and Dejan Lovren are looking like a decent pairing at the back…and the stats are there to prove that.
