HERE is your tea time round-up of today’s biggest Liverpool FC stories.

Klopp Bored Of Transfer Talk

Jürgen Klopp has been talking to the press at Melwood today, ahead of the Reds’ EFL Cup clash with Burton Albion tomorrow evening. When quizzed on transfers the boss was stern in his response.

He said: “I really (can’t) wait for the day when the transfer window is closed, because I can’t believe how obsessed you all are with this, and that you don’t believe for a second in improvement on the training pitch.”

This comes shortly after Klopp insisted he won’t panic buy as a result of the disappointing display at Burnley on Saturday. Does this mean the Reds are no longer in the market?

Clough: No Pressure On Us

Former Liverpool player, and current Burton Albion manager, Nigel Clough has also been talking to the media today, as he readies his team for the visit of Liverpool, and he has insisted his side are under no pressure heading into the game.

Clough said: “This is a brilliant week for the club, not a crucial week. Usually big games like this come later in the season and there’s a lot riding on them. That’s not the case.”

Not sure I could handle another upset.

Coutinho In Brazil Squad

Philippe Coutinho has been named in the Brazil squad for their World Cup qualifiers in September.

Coutinho has previously missed out on both the Copa America and the Olympics squads, but has played his way back into the plans of Brazil manager Tite.

Go ed, Phil.

Refs named for Saturday

Looking ahead to this weekend’s fixtures and Bobby Madley has been named as the referee for the Reds’ clash with Spurs at White Hart Lane.

Madley officiated several Liverpool games last season, including the 6-1 League Cup win over Southampton and the Merseyside derby thrashing of Everton, in which Ramiro Funes Mori was sent off for a stamp on Divock Origi.

Today At The Wrap

Couple of pieces on the site today post-Burnley. Gibbo has done his second instalment of his Home and Away feature on his trip to Turf Moor, while Ben Johnson’s column assesses the Reds’ inability to beat the teams that park the bus, so give that a read here.

Moving forward, I spoke to Burton Albion writer Joshua Murray ahead of tomorrow night’s EFL Cup clash at the Pirelli Stadium, which you can read here.
