Neil, Gibbo and Rob crawl their hungover, victorious carcasses up the Radio City Tower to reflect on the Tricky Red’s victory over Sunderland.

Another 70s American conspiracy thriller in the same vein but even more pessimistic (as it was made in the late 70s) is ‘Winter Kills’, starring Jeff Bridges, John Huston, Anthony Perkins, Eli Wallach & Sterling Hayden. It’s not based on a true story but still.
On the 70’s political/paranoia thrillers I’m going to chip in with ‘The Conversation’ by Francis Ford Coppola and staring Gene Hackman. One of the very best. Check it out fellas!
Yes! There was a window in the late 60s early 70s when Hollywood had a sort of pass to make real, grown-up movies – lots of paranoia movies & conspiracy movies.
To add to the ones you guys mentioned (great btw) & the ones mentioned in the comments: Chinatown (Jack Nicholson d. R. Polanski) – was actually based on the true story of L.A. & southern Californian corruption.
Great film, love Polanski films. Talking of China ‘The China Syndrome’, that’s another cracker, Jack Lemon at his very best.
Just like the great doctor himself Valentino Rossi all greats come to an end of their powers. I hoped Val would retire at the top. Lets hope Stevie will never be an also ran.
As you all were discussing who we can trust to play in the hole behind Suarez and Sturridge in the 3-5-2, I was absolutely salivating at the thought of Coutinho there. What a shame he’s not available right now, because I think it would be spectacular. A fit Glen Johnson at right wing back would be fantastic as well.
Joe, I think Vale’s issue is more one of trying to re-capture the feel of the M1, which he’s finding difficult due to the Bridgestones, so alternative routes are being tried to get that ‘feel’ back. There’s still life in the GOAT yet.
I know you guys can’t win whether you’re positive or negative on the podcast but this was a very positive one. I was convinced mid way through the second half it was going to finish 2-2. I know Sunderland have a new lease of life but they’re a poor team. Suarez looked brilliant with Sturridge and Sakho looked good but due to how poor Sunderland are I think the only thing I learned from the match was what undies Enrique likes to wear. Palace will be intriguing and tell us a bit more about where we’re at.
