John Gibbons team is better overall but Martin Kelly vs. John Barnes could be crucial. I will give it to Gibbons though.
It was disappointing to hear the podcast back off a top four finish being a priority. If the top four is out of reach and no longer a priority that is an indictment of the club’s transfer dealings. More disappointing was the Fulham result. Many people assumed Liverpool would switch to a three man midfield to relieve the pressure on Spearing and to an extent Adam. That also assumed Andy Carroll would be a casualty of the change in formation.
I agree with Tom. I’ve been disappointed to read a lot of fans lower their expectations and now consider a top 6 finish being alright. It’s as if we now accept mediocrity. During the summer we certainly had higher aspirations than 6th. Kenny talked big, said we’d be buying better players than we already had, would be backed in the transfer market. We spent money, bought players. Kenny implied we could win the league. John Henry said anything other than top 4 would be a disappointment. Naturally the fans now expect, and I have a feeling that if anyone other than Kenny was manager we’d all be expecting/demanding top 4.
Great podcast guys. One question though. Why are these podcasts these HUGE 124MB files? It’s just audio. I don’t know anything about these sorts of things, so I can only compare with other similar audio files I’ve downloaded and nothing comes close to the size of yours.
I really enjoy the podcast but feel like I can’t be the only one who wishes there were less contributors for each one. There are often too many people talking which is pretty inevitable with 10 people. Are there any other podcasts with this many people all at the same time?
I think Neil manages the number of people well, and on the whole everyone respects each others opinions and the talking over each other is pretty much kept to a minimum.
Robs team murders Johns, by the way.
Why has Coates not been mentioned for possible Lucas cover?
As a first year footy fan and fan of Liverpool – things have gotten interesting with the loss to Fulham. Fan expectations have become motley. I’ve relegated self to a more quiet but steady observance and study. Ultimately, my introduction to LFC has been a human one and I’m thrilled and grateful to follow such a club. Looking forward to seeing Liverpool climb out of the quagmire. Looking forward to Lucas’ recovery. Looking foward to Carroll championing his comeback overall. Looking forward to Suarez having a stain free season with the media. Looking forward to Carling Cup. Looking forward to have Spearing avoid the red card. Great job guys. Thanks for being around. Dependable.
